This is because of how they are made.

Except for maybe when they are in a bath-room, they always like to be with other humans and do human things with them.

This is an aerial-photograph of me, taken with a fancy camera from a flying machine. There are no humans in it. Only my rivers and I. If you want to, you can also come and fly over me in a flying machine and take aerial-photographs using fancy equipment.

My 13 Yule Lads

Hello, this is Iceland

My humans do not believe in Santa Claus of Hollywood fame. My humans have Christmas trolls called the Yule Lads that visit them for Christmas.

The Yule Lads are 13 brothers who are very mischievous and tricky, and some children are very, very scared of them. Maybe that is because their mother eats children. She is a terrible troll and collects misbehaving children in a bag to be boiled for soup.

They also have a very vicious cat who is also known to eat children. But he only eats children who do not dress nice for Christmas.

Tomorrow, and every day after that, until it is Christmas Eve, a Yule Lad will descend from the mountains to lift everyone’s Christmas spirit. They do no longer play tricks on children and usually bring a small gift. But I will tell you more about it later.
